2 Tips On Blogging That Can Be Used Right Away

May 31, 2009

You hear a lot of professional bloggers talking about ways to increase blog traffic, but the methods they presribe take a lot of time to do.

Many times they’ll tell you to engage other bloggers and make yourself known to them so they’ll comment on your blogs or just become aware of you. They will recommend also that you link to the posts of other bloggers because they know who is linking to them and this raises their awareness of you and your site.

Those are all great tips, but if you want to increase website traffic without having to do a lot of time-consuming work there are some easy things to do that will get you more traffic.

On-page optimization tip-

It has been my experience that it only takes a few quality backlinks to get your domain name highly ranked if you’re using good keywords in your domain name.

A keyword-rich domain name is one of the most powerful search engine optimization aspects for a website. You should be aware of this and take it into consideration prior to building a new site.

For example, if you own a domain name called bluegreenwidgets dot com, you can rank well for the term bluegreenwidgets with only a few backlinks.

The second most important on-page optimization factor on your site is the title of the site itself. Here you are advised to mix in a variation of your domain name, but use two sets of keywords for the site’s title.

In the example being used above the domain name bluegreenwidgets will have the site title of Blue Widgets – Green Widgets. In order to achieve maximum benefit from you on page factors, don’t just give your website the same title as the domain name.

That’s a good tip that will get you more traffic and ranking with less effort, just by making a few changes that take 15 seconds to do.

Blog writing tips-

It’s diificullt to write a lot of good content to a lot of sites all the time, especially if you are doing some niche affiliate marketing in some niches you don’t know much about.

The secret is to write with passion and authority and to do so when you feel compelled to.  Obviously you can’t write with authority and passion unless you know something about your niche topic.  The solution to this is to get free website content and to learn more about your niche by reading the newspaper and watching some television.

If you chose a niche that is related to a very general and popular subject, you will find a lot of information from sources like the magazines, newspapers, and television if you become tuned in to this content.  Then all you have to do is write about what is popular right now relating to your niche topics.
