Tips On How to Write A Good Book:The Query Package for Fiction

July 9, 2009

So you’ve written new fiction book and edited it until it sparkles. You ask ourselves the goal of your publication is going to continue to print publications, electronic publications (epublishing), or self-publishing and you have completed your research, publishers and agents. Now you have a list of agents and editors you’d like to query. So what next? What do you send them? Have you ever heard, you should not be the complete manuscript of the bat outside, clearly set out a number of agents on its Web site they want to see, and what other people say.

To better understand what to send and what agents and editors are looking for, let’s take a moment to consider the purpose of the most commonly requested items in a query package for new fiction book.The 4 main parts of a fiction query package are:
* Query letter
* Example page
* The Synopsis
* Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) if querying by mail

The Query Letter: this is your first contact with an agent or editor. If you have other materials in your package, query letter and then the top. It’s designed to introduce your manuscript and you. Our goal is to attract an agent or editor flip your sample page, and start reading. Points into the query letter is:
1) Description (perhaps 2) of your novel – the book would like to backup Blurb.
2) A paragraph with the basic statistics about your manuscript – this includes genre and word count (for example: “Most Amazing Book” is a science fiction novel of approximately 95,000 words).
3) A bit about yourself – only include pertinent information such as experiences related to the subject of your fiction novel download and previous publications.
4) Thanking the agent / editor for his/her time and mention that the complete manuscript is available.

The Sample Pages: this is what we all want the editor/agent to look at, this is your whole reason for sending the query out. These pages may range from five to 75 pages, but agent / editor to start booking request is always sent.
